Me and Tad are extremely busy these days with our house. Not only are we repainting, but his dear friend Jeff, who happens to be an amazing electrician, came over and spent Sunday afternoon discussing the ultimate rewiring of our very old house (built year 1907).
It all started with the bathroom fan. While I was in the hospital coming to terms with surgery and my colon removal I became distressed about our bathroom, it just wasn’t up to par. I knew it was not the kind of bathroom one can be sick in. We agreed we would get Jeff over and plan something out. After giving Jeff the tour, it became apparent that installing the bathroom fan requires a series of critical prior steps. Mr. Jeff insisted on making us safe and “up-to-code”. As we all talkedm, I felt a huge sense of relief as this old wiring has been a burden for quite some time. Finally, we will remove the knob & tube wiring in the upstairs and install a dedicated smoke detector system. We will bring in grounded GFI wiring into the bathroom and the basement laundry room. The circuit box will be upgraded yet again and we will get rid of all those &*@&*#& extension cords!
Some critical first steps:
1. Clean out our basement room which houses the electrical panel. (We are pack rats.)
2. Remove kids toys stored in the attic.
3. Have a professional vacuum/hazordous waste guy remove the gray rug matter from the floor of the attic.
4. Secure bank funds.
I am quite excited to be moving our house into the twenty-first century. As for me, I am down to 25 mgs of prednisone and this seems a much tolerable level. (Not so much roid rage!) Cramping and explosive bms have subsided, and I am eating just about anything I want. Coffee and spicey foods seem to be off for awhile.
Just found this amazing site videos and defining “Ulcerative Colitis: Related Videos” (Thank you, Mark and Megan.) The information here is vast and quite specific, particularly touching is young Lisa’s brave story. As my surgery date approaches I feel just a bit more anxious. She touches on alot of my unexpressed fears.
