December 10, 2008 ~ Hannah’s Story

I just recieved a comment from Hannah and checked out her blog: Living with Ulcerative Colitis.  I am incredibly moved by her story. This is a young woman with sass and insight. I love you Hannah!!

Please read her blog and consider a donation. She, like many Americans is uninsured with a pre-existing condition, ulcerative colitis. She is too old to receive coverage from by her mother’s insurance and yet young, still working on her education, and cannot afford individual high priced insurance premiums.

Hannah could use your support and she offers many creative ways in which you can do so.  Even if you don’t want to donate,  her moving story of perserverance, told with effervescent honesty will truly inspire you.

Hannah is a lovely young woman.

  1. Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog AND on your blog too! You seem like such a wonderful lady. I was reading your posts about your takedown surgery and glad to see that it went well. I learned about the marshmallow trick too from the ostomy wound care nurses at Vanderbilt and it worked. I still love them too. I took some belly dancing classes too. I loved it but they stopped giving the class so I never got advanced at it. I noticed another thing we had in common. I had to sleep in adult diapers too after my stomach fell. Something got so twisted up in my j-pouch that I could not poop while sitting on the toilet. I could only poop when I layed down. That was my most depressing time. I hope you continue to do great with your new colon. And your post about thoughts..it’s very true. Thoughts are things and it really really matters what we’re putting out in this universe! I’m sending you all my good thoughts right now! Hannah

  2. Hi Hannah,

You sound so interesting and insightful. I think my daughter is about your age, she is twenty. Thats wierd about pooping and lying down. I poop more at night then during the day. But I am very well now. Eating and trying to put weight back on. (But not too much! Being thin is wonderful. I am at around 125 whereas over a year ago I was more like 158-165. Have had to buy all new clothes.

Oh, and yes I know another thing I got, you head. Uvitis! I have that in my eyes all the time. It transfrom from right to left and hits me several times a year. Half the time I can’t really see out of one of my eyes. Currently its in my right eye and we’ve been trying to nail it since June. But things could always be worse that is for sure.

Here is to you and yours in the holiday season, wishing you well.
    Carmen
